How Do I Report Income from a Freelance Blogger on a 1099 Form?

Complete a Form 1099-NEC to report specific income that you paid to a freelance blogger in the previous tax year. Use the form if you made payments that amount to $600 or more for the year. Send copies of the 1099 form to the Internal Revenue Service and each applicable independent contractor by Jan. 31 of the year after you paid them. Businesses must report the payments by first collecting a contractor’s personal Form W-9 information. You must also file Form 1096 if you print and mail a physical copy of Form 1099-NEC to the IRS.

We handle efficient forms filing for 1099 forms with our E-File add-on module options. Download our free 1099-etc Demo software today and see whether E-File Direct or E-File Services makes the most sense for your business’s needs.
