Since April 30, 2015, New York determined that electronic filing has several advantages over paper filing, such as: security, accuracy, and up-to-date tax rates. As a result, all withholding reports in New York must be filed electronically by the deadlines.
New York currently supports three options for electronically filing withholding returns.
- Web File Services
- Web Upload
- FSET compatible software
Web File Services allows you to make your withholding payments, file withholding tax returns, as well as report wage and UI information.
Web Upload allows you to upload a file to the state for processing your withholding returns.
FSET (Federal/State Employment Taxes) compatible software acts as a service that files your withholding returns and wage and UI information on your behalf.
If you still choose to file on paper, you will be subject to penalties.
The good news is, Advanced Micro Solutions Payroll Software supports the Web Upload method of e-filing in New York and the FSET method of filing.
