Make AMS the Answer to Form WV UC-A-154

As with most states, West Virginia business owners must complete a WV unemployment contribution report. Employers are subject to the Unemployment Compensation Law if they meet the criteria set forward by the state; in most cases, the stipulation of paying more than $1,500 or more in any calendar quarter necessitates liability. Though rules differ for agricultural workers—an employer is liable if he or she pays for agricultural labor cash wages of $20,000 or more—the fact remains that most West Virginia employers must complete Form WV UC-A-154. For he complete list of employer liability classifications, see the Workforce West Virginia Handbook for Employers.

Form WV UC-A-154, also known as the WV Unemployment Contribution Report, is straightforward. It requires employers to include information regarding total wages paid, their tax rate, and contributions. The report also requires a month-by-month breakdown of the number of employees within the given pay period. The Unemployment Wage Report, which must be filed alongside Form WV UC-A-154, requires that employers include each employee’s Social Security Number, full name, and the gross wages paid within the quarter.
