Form 2848 is used to grant power of attorney for the purposes of being represented in front of the IRS. In other words, if you have a tax dispute with the IRS, but you don’t want to go through the rigmarole of showing up at court, you can have a qualified person represent you in front of the IRS. These qualified persons are tax attorneys or other enrolled agents with the IRS.
With Advanced Micro Solutions (AMS), it’s easy for you or your enrolled agent to complete form 2848. Our Forms Filer platform software and Forms Filer Plus module provides the support you need for w-2, 1099, and plenty of other filing forms. Many accounting professionals, including enrolled agents and tax attorneys, can use our software products to manage their business and their clients’ filing needs. Likewise, many small business owners use our software to take care of their own W-2, 1099, and payroll needs. Either way, we can help you prepare and file the form with our power of attorney software.
Form 2848 vs. Other Power of Attorney (POA) Agreements
Individuals and companies who are under audit or have a dispute with the IRS may have an isolated need for power of attorney, or declaration of representative. Form 2848 is a great way to create this POA authority without extensive legal expertise. But what if you already have an existing POA agreement? Beyond the IRS, any number of financial, legal, and health-related circumstances can lend themselves to creating a power of attorney. So long as the documentation is in order, your existing POA agent can represent you.
However, these alternative powers of attorney are not recorded as part of the Centralized Authorization File (CAF) unless form 2848 is submitted. The good news? Your agent can submit this form without getting your signature. And again, the software from AMS can make this process easy and reliable.
Power of Attorney Software and Other Filing Features
Our Forms Filer Plus is our vehicle for power of attorney software, but it also includes other features and form filing support that business owners and professional accountants may be interested in. 1040 Sch H, form 940 and other unemployment filings are all part of this product module, not to mention numerous state-level filing forms.
Like all of our form filing capabilities, our power of attorney software is built on our Forms Filer platform software. This intuitive menu-driven platform offers a range of essential data management features:
- Data Entry: Multiple options for entering data include a spreadsheet format or through a screen that resembles the actual form. You can import data from any number of common file types.
- Data Printing & Reporting: Reports include tables, worksheets, client letters, recipient lists, and mailing labels. Encrypted PDF files are used for security. SSN/TIN hash totals verify data accuracy. Easy form alignment and large-batch print jobs create automated, error-free printing.
- More Features: Free network installation. Multiple PC installation (site license may apply). Payer backup and restore. Supports up to 1,999 payers/employers and up to 99,999 recipients per payer.
And this is just the beginning. Other software products from AMS will handle your payroll processing, e-filing, and software-generated forms. Ready to get started? Download our demo software, talk to our Sales and Information team at (800) 536-1099, or buy our products online at any time.
